Ask a QuestionNorfolk estate agents pack 9 tonnes of donations for Ukrainian refugees
On Friday 8th April, a team of volunteers headed off to Hadley & Ottaway’s storage facility to help pack donations ready for distribution to Eastern Europe. The team included Harriet, from Sales Support, and Laima, our Administration Team Leader, who kindly spent their morning assisting with the packing of items ready for transporting.
The cause is particularly close to Laima’s heart as she has relatives from Ukraine, she said:
“I wanted to get involved with this campaign as like many of us I am shocked and saddened by what is happening in Ukraine. It seems almost unbelievable that something like this can happen in 21st Century Europe, so in many ways it’s even more important to try to do something and help those in need, however small. It is also very personal to me as my great grandmother was Ukrainian, and my grandparents fled Latvia during WWII, arriving in the UK as refugees, just like many refugees are now arriving in Western Europe from Ukraine.”
Harriet, from our Sales Support team, also said:
“I was pleased to have the opportunity to represent the company in being able to assist this local effort and pleased Glen wanted to be involved. Everyone who I met was friendly and we all got stuck in and worked hard – even if I say so myself! I had mixed emotions knowing that we were packing food, medicine and especially baby supplies to a country not far away. It is a difficult situation to comprehend, and I just pray we never have to be in that situation.”
The donations include essentials such as; medical and sanitary goods, first aid, baby and toddler items (including nappies), food (including pet food), kitchenware, camp beds, blankets, bedding and towels.
It was a tremendous effort from all involved and the lorry pictured is just half of the donations received! These are now set to land in Eastern Europe at the end of this week.
